Environmental Education
On the afternoon of Monday 4th May, 6B had their first Environmental Education lesson with Mrs Kirk. First we got into groups for all the things we were going to do. There were planting, watering, digging and mulching groups.

We worked all afternoon to replace the native plants in the school's front garden which vandals had destroyed. We had lots of fun.

We would like to thank Mr Visintine (whose son is year 1) for generously donating the plants.

Rugby League Clinic
It was fun. We learnt about football players and what they eat. They eat eggs.

They told us how to play footy. They gave out posters and they gave me a ball.

I play soccer but I might play rugby league when I am older.

Garden Gang
In 2008 1B, Mrs Boyd, Mrs Mitchell and other volunteers worked to create a no-dig garden. The grass was covered with newspaper, then mulch. Finally, we laid rows of manure and covered that with more mulch. Our garden was ready to plant.

We had a very successful year selling vegetables to students, teachers and parents. We even used some in our class cooking.

This year the ‘Garden Gang’ operates on a Tuesday and Thursday lunch, with Mrs Boyd, and any interested students. In addition, the buddy classes 6B and 1/2T have been cultivating a new season of crops. Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, chives and perpetual spinach have been planted for the winter crop. We also transplanted some self-sown lettuce from last year. The pumpkin, planted last October, so far has five baby butternuts growing and is spreading all over the whole garden. We have to keep pushing it back. Also planted last year are sweet potato, rosemary, basil and parsley – all growing strong.

The garden is located behind the library, opposite the rose garden. Come and have a look. Smell the basil and taste some parsley, or join the ‘Garden Gang’ at lunch and help to grow our vegetables.
